Here & There

Songs I am probably over-playing. In no particular order:

1. "Up All Night" by Take That: A new single by the British band Take That. It sounds a bit country, but it sounds uplifting and happy. Judging by the video, this song could very well be used for Canada Day or July 4th celebrations. However, this song comes nowhere close to my favourite Take That song: Back for Good, which I probably like for nostalgic reasons.

2. "Mr. Pitiful" by Matt Costa: I love Matt Costa.

3. "Lucky" by Jason Mraz ft. Colbie Caillat: I am a huge Jason Mraz fan, and I'll have you know he is not just a one-hit wonder. I also enjoy listening to Colbie Caillat's songs. I thought her first CD was really good. And, together their performance on last week's SNL was amazing. Although, I have to admit I am getting a bit sick of "I'm Yours".

4. "Ye Mere Deevanapan Hai" by Susheela Raman: I know this song from the movie "Namesake". Susheela Raman is a British singer, who usually sings traditional Indian songs. The title means "Is this my insanity?" in Hindi. I believe, this form of poetry is called Ghazal (pronounced guzzle); where the couplets rhyme, and the poetry is about love [Wiki]. It reminds me of the old Indian folk music, my grandmother listens to.

5. "Her Morning Elegance" by Oren Lavie: Love the song, sorta reminds me of Josh Radin's music. The video is very cool and reminds me of Adele's "Chasing Pavements".

6. "The Ugly and the Beautiful" by The Real Tuesday Weld: I absolutely love the lyrics.

7. "On the Radio" by Regina Spektor: She has an amazing voice.

Great recommendations! I'm always on the lookout for new music.
I'm a big Jason Mraz fan too. "I'm Yours" is a great song, but it's so overplayed. People have to realize that he has a ton of other equally good songs. My favorite is "A Beautiful Mess", which most people have never heard of. :(

I like the first three songs. Her Morning Elegance is a good song, but I don't really like the style of music.

I don't know ANY of those tunes, unless they're remakes, as some of the titles are fimilar. I'll have to check those out, THANKS!

I see your a fan of the film, Little Children. GREAT flick. In fact, the author (Perrotta) of the book & co-author of the screenplay grew up in the next town over. Nice guy- met him a few times. You like The Dark Knight as well. What about it in particular? I'm a pretty big Batman fan.

Today's word verification is "badite", which means someone whose just a little bit bad, or perhaps it's a small person whose just plain bad? ;^)

changetheworld360,
"A Beautiful Mess" is a very beautiful song. I love how Jason Mraz's music is so simple. I also like "Geek in the Pink"; I think it's funky.

Maria,
I think with "Her Morning Elegance" the video is a lot cooler than the actual song.

C. Louis,
Most of these songs are indie, maybe that's why you haven't heard of them before?

Yes, I think "Little Children" did justice to Tom Perrotta's novel. Although, I can't say I am a big fan of his books. I thought his recent book 'The Abstinence Teacher' was not that great. But, it is so great that you actually got a chance to meet an author.

I actually liked "The Dark Knight" for its social commentary. I was never into comics. Here are the two posts I wrote about the movie :):

I actually like this word "badite". I think we should really pass this word on to Paris Hilton's people, so they could add it to the Oxford Dictionary. Since, sadly, it is "intelligent" people like her who get to decide our vocabulary.

Me too! (on TDK) I think that's what separates The Dark Knight from other films of the comic book genre and why it was one of my favorite films of the year.

I agree with you changetheworld360. Most of the 2008 films were forgettable. But that is certainly not the case with Dark Knight.

Woah, I'm getting the sense that you have posted something, but are either hiding it (=_=) or it has been lost in cyberspace. ':-l

Z- Thanks for answering my questions. I want to know how come you don't have much of a profile. Not trying to be invasive, just curious. Running from the government perhaps? Also, please explain your icon/avatar/pic thingie, please.

WV-"plingitu"= it's someone attempting to say "a thing or two" or I want "to sing w/you" w/very few teeth in their mouth......I could be wrong I guess.

Maria,
The post I took down was a "copy-paste version" of a NYT's article, about a woman who was too shy to ask out a guy so instead posted something for him on Craigslist. The reason I took it down: I thought it was mean, because at least she had the courage to ask him out in the cyberspace.

C. Louis,
Hmmm..What am I missing in my profile? I am from Toronto.
I explained my avatar in my previous post, the one with the rap song about Toronto's transit system.
I like plingitu. It sounds cute. Child speak, perhaps?

Oh Z, don't be so snippy & sassy w/me! ;^)~

I must have missed your avatar explanation somewhere, I'll have to search for it. I apparently missed the Toronto info. as well- I was speaking on & off w/a woman from Toronto for a little over a year. I never did end up meeting her. We had a falling out on the phone which I guess is easier if you've never actually met the person. You poor Canadians usually get a bum rap, but I think most of you are cool.......or not. I always wanted to visit- love Montreal, but have only been there twice.

WV-"enstor"=This one's tough. Possibly when you've hit the back wall at your favorite shopping establishment, OR your hoping to find something your looking for within said establishment, OR when you have something upcoming.

I apparently have waaay too much time on my hands. So sad..................

C. Louis,

I am sorry I didn't mean to be snappy. I just didn't want you to think I ignored your question.

Sorry to hear about the breakup, at least you didn't waste your time coming up here to see her.

Keep the WVs coming :).

C. Louis, (Here is what I wrote, Sorry about the delay)

The icon or avatar is Darfur's map. I guess, it is there to sort of get people talking about the ongoing genocide in Sudan.
